Verify Your Rights Against Meesho Complaints

  • Meesho connects small sellers with millions of households across India, but customers often face issues like defective products, wrong or delayed deliveries, denied returns and account suspensions.
  • Internal resolution should be your first step—raise complaints via the app, use the “Call Me Back” feature for human support, and record unboxing videos as proof.
  • If unresolved, escalate through the National Consumer Helpline (1915), the e-Daakhil portal for online filing, or send a legal notice via DigiLawyer.
  • Under Indian law, both the seller and Meesho have liability for product quality and service deficiencies.
  • Acting quickly helps secure refunds, compensation, and protects your consumer rights effectively.

Meesho has quickly become an e-commerce giant, bridging the gap between small-scale sellers and millions of households across India. However, the surge in popularity has also seen a rise in online shopping fraud—ranging from poor product quality to receiving an entirely different item than what was ordered.

The scale of these issues is best highlighted by recent legal precedents, such as the 2025 Sony Alpha camera case, where the court held Meesho accountable for delivery negligence and mental agony.

This detailed blog gives you the right approach and guided steps to seek redressal.

Most Common Meesho Complaints by Customers

1. Duplicate Product

You might have ordered a branded kitchen appliance advertised as original and high-quality, only to receive a cheaper, unbranded duplicate that stops working within a few days.

Meesho’s marketplace model allows thousands of unorganized sellers to list items. Many use high-end, stolen photos from premium brands but ship low-quality imitations.

This isn't just a quality issue; it's Passing off and Misrepresentation, which are clear violations under the Consumer Protection Act

2. Pickup Delays

Once you initiate a return, a logistics partner is assigned. Often, the agent never arrives but marks the status as "Customer Not Reachable" or "Pickup Failed."

The app then keeps rescheduling the pickup, and before you know it, the 7-day return period lapses. The “Return” option disappears, leaving you stuck without any way to claim a refund.

3. Denied Returns (Fair Use Policy)

Meesho uses automated algorithms to flag accounts with high return rates. If you have returned multiple items recently, even for valid reasons like "Wrong Item Received" the system may block future returns.

4. Bot-Looping

To save on costs, Meesho pushes users toward a chatbot. The bot is programmed with limited options. If your problem doesn't fit a button, the bot simply restarts the chat.

5. Account Suspensions

Accounts are often suspended for "suspicious activity" or "verification failed" errors without specific details.

This is most "agonizing" when you have a pending refund. Once the account is blocked, you lose access to the Help Center, your order history, and your refund status. It’s a total blackout that leaves the consumer feeling helpless and cheated.

6. Ghost Deliveries

A ghost delivery isn't just a logistics error; it is often a deliberate attempt by a delivery agent or a fraudulent seller to meet "delivery targets" or steal the item.

  • The Tactic: You receive an OTP or a "Delivered" notification while sitting at home, yet your doorbell never rang.
  • The Struggle: When you complain to Meesho, they point to the "GPS tag" or the "Successful Delivery Status" provided by the courier, effectively calling you a liar.

If the matter feels like it has escalated, consider sending a legal notice. We’ve managed thousands of cases, and in more than 90% of them, the issue was resolved with just a formal legal notice.

How to Resolve Meesho Issues First Before Filing a Formal Complaint?

Always exhaust Meesho’s internal resolution channels before filing a legal complaint, a proper escalation process creates a strong paper trail if the matter goes to court.

Step 1: Raise a Complaint Through the App

Most issues, like size changes or simple damages, are resolved here.

Meesho Help Center
  • How to do it: Go to Account > Help Center > Select your Order.
  • Action: Choose the specific issue (e.g., "I received a defective product").

Step 2: The "Call Me Back" Feature (Human Intervention)

There is no Meesho Complaint number though, you can try this hack -

  • The Hack: Don't just chat with the bot. In the Help Center, after selecting an issue, look for the "Still need help? or Call me back" option.
  • Action: Request a call. A Meesho executive will call you within 5-10 minutes.
  • Why it works: Human agents have the power to "override" automated rejections, especially if you can describe the discrepancy between the product received and the listing.

Step 3: The Unboxing Rule

A continuous unboxing video proves the state of the product the exact moment it was delivered.

How to Record an Unboxing Video

  • Start the recording by showing all six sides of the unopened, sealed package to prove it hasn't been tampered with.
  • Zoom in on the shipping label, so the Order ID and AWB number are clearly legible.
  • Keep the camera rolling in a single shot without any pauses or edits from the moment you break the seal until the product is fully inspected.

Step-By-Step: How to File a Complaint on Meesho?

If you find yourself stuck in a loop of automated rejections, it’s time to move beyond the app and escalate your grievance to the authorities who can actually enforce your rights.

1.Contact Meesho Helpline Directly

Meesho provides Call me Back Option – 24x7 support, that can be found in the Help Centre Page

Email- query@meesho.com

Your email should include: Your Order ID, the Ticket ID from Step 1, and a clear statement: "I am filing a formal grievance as the support team failed to resolve my issue within the stipulated time."

2. Escalation to the Grievance Officer

If the support team closes your ticket without a refund, you must escalate. As Per Indian E-commerce laws (2020), Meesho must provide a Grievance Officer.

Grievance Officer: Murthy SN

Email: caremppl@meesho.com or legalsupport@meesho.com

Formal Grievance Detail

Attach your invoice, clear photos of the defect, and screenshots of previous chat failures. Conclude your email with a formal declaration: If this issue is not resolved within 48 hours, I will be forced to escalate this grievance.

Why this works: Unlike the chatbot, the Executive Relations team has the power to override system rejections. It’s a proven hack used by many to secure refunds within 48 hours when the app fails to help.

If Meesho Doesn’t Resolve: Immediate Next Steps

Here are the immediate next steps to take when Meesho’s internal team stops responding.

Social Media Escalation: The Power of Public Pressure

E-commerce brands are highly sensitive to their public image. A well-documented post on social media can often trigger an "Executive Callback" within hours.

  • Platform: Use X (formerly Twitter).
  • Tag @Meesho_Official and @jagograhakjago (the official Consumer Affairs handle).
  • Meesho payment proof which includes: The Tax Invoice, Bank/UPI Statement: A PDF of the transaction showing the specific Payment Reference Number and Transaction ID.

A legal notice often prompts a company to settle, as it signals that you are ready to pursue legal action, something that could cost them significantly more in legal expenses than simply issuing the refund.

Ready to Take Legal Action Against Meesho? If internal complaints haven’t worked, send a professional legal notice online in minutes. Protect your rights and prompt a quick resolution without visiting a lawyer.

When internal escalations fail, you must leverage the Indian government’s robust digital infrastructure for consumer protection.

1. National Consumer Helpline (NCH) - 1915

Meesho is required to respond to NCH dockets within 30 days

  • Call 1915: Toll–free multi-lingual helpline (8 AM – 8 PM).
  • WhatsApp +91 88000 01915: Simply send a "Hi" to start the automated grievance process.
  • NCH 2.0 App: Use the official app to upload your "Dispute File" (unboxing video, invoice, and screenshots).

2. E-Daakhil: The Digital Consumer Court

You can file a formal case in the Consumer Commission without ever visiting a court or hiring a lawyer.

Website: https://www.india.gov.in/

How it Works: It allows for e-filing of complaints, online payment of fees, and even virtual hearings via video call.

3.Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA)

The CCPA doesn't just look at individual refunds; it has the power to impose heavy fines on companies for "Unfair Trade Practices" and can order platform-wide changes to protect all consumers.

Who is Liable: Meesho or the Seller?

Under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, liability is shared. While the Seller is responsible for the product's quality and accuracy, Meesho has "fallback liability." This means if the seller fails to resolve a legitimate issue or cannot be traced, Meesho is legally obligated to step in and issue the refund.

In your legal notice, always name "BOTH". By making the Seller Opposite Party 1 (OP1) and Meesho Opposite Party 2 (OP2), you ensure they cannot point fingers at each other. The court will hold the platform responsible for the "Deficiency in Service" if they failed to protect you from a bad seller.

Opposite Party No. 1: Meesho Technologies Private Limited(CIN: U62099KA2024PTC186568). 3rd Floor, Wing-E, Helios Business Park,Kadubeesanahalli Village, Varthur Hobli, Outer Ring Road Bellandur, Bangalore, Bangalore South, Karnataka, India, 560103

Opposite Party No. 2: [Name of the Seller on your Invoice] Address: [mentioned on your Meesho Invoice or Seller Profile Page]

FAQs

What if the seller is no longer active on Meesho?

Even if the seller disappears or becomes untraceable, Meesho may still be liable under “fallback liability” provisions of the E-Commerce Rules, 2020.

Can I get a refund if the 7-day return window has already closed?

Yes. If the product has a latent defect (a problem that wasn't visible immediately) or if you were "Bot-Looped" which caused the delay, you can still seek a refund. The 7-day window is a company policy, but the legal statute of limitations for filing a consumer complaint is 2 years.

Why should I pay Digilawyer when I can file in the Consumer Court for free?

You can absolutely do it yourself.

The court process is free, but drafting a legally sound complaint that doesn't get dismissed on a technicality takes hours of research.

We save you time. We turn your raw facts into a professional Legal Notice. It’s the difference between sending a complaint letter and sending a legal warning that Meesho’s legal team actually respects.

Do I need to go to court in the city where Meesho is headquartered?

No. You can file your complaint in the District Commission where you reside or work. You do not need to travel to Bangalore. Most hearings in 2026 are conducted virtually via video call through the e-Daakhil portal.

What should I do if my account is blocked after I file a complaint?

Retaliatory account suspension is an Unfair Trade Practice. Ensure you have saved your Meesho payment proof and invoices offline before this happens. If blocked, mention this blocking of access to justice in your NCH (1915) complaint.

Is Meesho legally responsible for third-party sellers?

Yes. While sellers are primarily responsible for product quality, Meesho has fallback liability if the seller fails to resolve a legitimate grievance or cannot be traced.
