Challan Lok Adalat

The 2nd National Lok Adalat of 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, across all district courts in India. If you missed the March session or if you have any pending traffic challans that are unresolved, this is the one day in the calendar where you can close them legally at a reduced fine, without a court visit.

If you have unpaid challans on the Delhi Traffic Police portal or any state traffic portal, this is the one day every few months where the law allows compoundable offences to be settled at a fraction of the original fine. The next session after this is not until September 12, 2026.

DigiLawyer handles everything for you. You just need to share your challan or vehicle number. We take it from there, including token booking, document preparation, and appearing at the court on your behalf. If you don't receive a token for the Lok Adalat session, we'll file through the Evening Court so your challan is still settled.

Share your vehicle number or challan on WhatsApp at 8178704343 and our team will check your eligibility and fine reduction within the day.

What Is the National Lok Adalat

The National Lok Adalat is a formal legal mechanism under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. NALSA organizes four sessions every year, scheduled on the second Saturday of March, May, September, and December. Each session runs simultaneously across every state and union territory in India, covering district courts, high courts, and specialized tribunals.

For traffic challans specifically, the National Lok Adalat is the only route where compoundable offences can be settled at a judicially reduced fine, and the settlement carries the weight of a court decree. Once a challan is settled through Lok Adalat, it cannot be reopened.

The May 9, 2026 session is the second National Lok Adalat of the year. Unlike the March 2026 session, which was rescheduled in Delhi at the last minute to March 22, the May session falls on a regular second Saturday with no known conflicts.

Who This Announcement Is For

  • Delhi NCR vehicle owners with unpaid e-challans on the Delhi Traffic Police portal pending in Virtual Court on or before October 31, 2025
  • Residents of tier 2 and tier 3 cities across India including Lucknow, Patna, Jaipur, Bhopal, Nagpur, Chandigarh, Indore, and others where district courts will hold simultaneous sessions on May 9
  • Anyone who missed the March 14 or March 22 session and has been waiting for the next window
  • People with multiple challans across vehicles who want everything cleared in one session without managing it themselves
  • Commercial and fleet vehicle owners dealing with accumulated challan backlogs
  • Anyone with challans that did not qualify for Lok Adalat and needs Evening Court as an alternative

What Is Happening on May 9, 2026

NALSA (National Legal Services Authority) organises four National Lok Adalats every year, timed on the second Saturday of March, May, September, and December. The May 9 session is the second of the year. Every state runs its own session simultaneously under NALSA's mandate, which means district courts across Delhi, UP, Haryana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and every other state will be open for case settlement on the same day.

For traffic challans specifically, the Delhi session is the most actively tracked because Delhi uses a mandatory online token system with limited slots. Tokens for past sessions have sold out in under two hours of going live.

This is not a walk-in event in Delhi. What makes this session different from the March one: The March 2026 session was complicated by Delhi's last-minute reschedule to March 22. The May session falls on a regular second Saturday with no known scheduling conflict. For most vehicle owners, it should run as announced.

Lok Adalat is Your Best Chance to Clear Challan Before It Gets Worse

A pending challan does not sit quietly. Once a challan is forwarded to Virtual Court, it becomes an active case. Multiple unresolved challans on your record can lead to your driving licence being flagged, and in serious cases, suspended. If a court summons is issued and ignored, enforcement action can follow.

For vehicle owners managing RC transfers, ownership changes, NOC applications, or DL renewals, a pending challan record is an active blocker. The RTO will not process the paperwork cleanly until the challan is closed.

Outside of Lok Adalat sessions and Evening Court, the only other way to resolve a pending challan is to pay the full fine amount with no reduction. May 9 is the last National Lok Adalat session for the next four months. The next one after this is scheduled for September 12, 2026.

If your challan has been sitting for months already, this is the session to clear it. The process takes a few days to a couple of weeks from the time you contact us to the time you receive your settlement receipt. Reach out now so we have time to verify and prepare before May 9.

State Legal Services Authorities may adjust local arrangements. DigiLawyer verifies local booking requirements for your city before the session so you are not blindsided.

Why a Pending Challan Gets Worse Over Time

A pending challan does not sit quietly. Once forwarded to Virtual Court, it becomes an active case on record. Multiple unresolved challans can lead to your driving licence being flagged, and in serious cases, suspended. Ignored court summons can lead to enforcement action.

For anyone managing RC transfers, ownership changes, NOC applications, or DL renewals, a pending challan is an active blocker. The RTO will not process paperwork cleanly until the challan record is clear.

Outside of Lok Adalat and Evening Court, the only other way to resolve a pending challan is to pay the full fine with no reduction. May 9 is your best window for the next four months. The process from the time you contact us to receiving your settlement receipt takes a few days to a couple of weeks. Reach out now so we have time to verify and prepare before May 9.

Which Challans Can Be Settled

Only compoundable traffic offences are eligible. These include:

  • Overspeeding (camera or manual challans)
  • Red light or signal jumping
  • No helmet on a two-wheeler
  • No seatbelt
  • Parking violations
  • Expired or missing PUC certificate
  • No valid insurance document
  • Wrong lane driving
  • No number plate or invalid number plate

Not eligible: Drunk driving, hit-and-run, FIR-linked accident challans, and challans issued in another state. We still close non-compoundable challans cleanly through the appropriate legal route, without you needing to make a physical appearance.

Clear your challan before May 9. Share your vehicle number on WhatsApp at 8178704343 and our team handles everything from eligibility check to settlement receipt.

How long does it take to settle my challan through DigiLawyer?

Most challan matters are resolved within a few days to a couple of weeks depending on the case. For Lok Adalat sessions, the timeline follows the session date. We keep you updated throughout the process so you are never left guessing.

What exactly does DigiLawyer do after I contact you?

You share your challan or vehicle number. Our legal team checks eligibility, reviews your case, and advises on the best settlement route. We handle token booking, document preparation, and court representation. You receive a settlement confirmation and court receipt when it is done.

Can DigiLawyer handle serious challan offences, not just minor ones?

Yes. Our lawyers can assist with serious challan cases. We review the specific offence first and recommend the right legal approach. Some serious offences cannot be settled through Lok Adalat, but there are other legal routes and we will guide you on those.

My vehicle is registered in another state but the challan is from Delhi. Can you still help?

Yes. DigiLawyer handles challans across states, including Delhi challans for outstation vehicles. The process is the same. Share the challan details and we verify eligibility and handle representation.

How much does DigiLawyer charge for representation?

For compoundable challans settled through Lok Adalat, DigiLawyer's representation is included in the process and we get you a reduction of up to 50% or more in most cases. If you have questions about specific charges for your case type, contact us on WhatsApp at 8178704343 and we will give you a clear picture upfront.

I only have digital copies of my documents. Can you still help?

Yes. Digital copies are fine to start. Share them with us and we will take it forward from there. We advise on what needs to be printed before the session, if anything.

How can I check if I have a pending challan?

Share your vehicle number with us on WhatsApp and we will check your challan status across the Delhi Traffic Police portal and Virtual Court. We will also tell you the maximum reduction you are eligible for based on your challan type.

What if tokens are sold out by the time you try to book?

If tokens fill up before we can secure yours, we file through Evening Court, which runs on working days at district courts and gives you a 35% reduction on the final fine amount. Your challan still gets settled legally without a physical appearance from your side.

If I'm stopped in traffic, can I show DigiLawyer's confirmation as proof?

Once we process your challan, you receive a confirmation from our side. You can show this as a reference. Final clearance reflects in the official system within a few days of settlement. If you face a situation on the spot, contact us immediately at 8178704343 and we will guide you in real time on what to show and say.

My challan does not show on the Delhi Traffic Police portal. What do I do?

It may not have been forwarded to Virtual Court yet, or it may be listed under a different registration format. Share the challan number or vehicle number with us and we will check across portals to confirm status and the best available settlement route.

Is the Lok Adalat settlement legally final?

Yes. Once the bench passes the award and you receive the court-stamped receipt, the case is permanently closed under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. It has the same force as a civil court decree and cannot be appealed or reopened by either party.

When exactly will token booking open for May 9?

DSLSA typically opens the booking link three to five days before the Lok Adalat date. For May 9, expect the link to go live around May 5 to May 7. DigiLawyer monitors the portal from the moment it opens. Reach out to us before that so your details are ready and we can book the moment slots open.

Is attending the National Lok Adalat mandatory for settlement?

No. DigiLawyer's advocate attends on your behalf. You do not need to be present at the court complex.

How is a National Lok Adalat different from a regular court?

A Lok Adalat is a conciliation forum, not an adversarial court. Both parties agree to a settlement, and the award passed is final and binding. No appeal can be filed against a Lok Adalat award. For traffic challans, this means once settled, the case is permanently closed.

What documents do I need to provide?

You only need to share your vehicle number or challan screenshot with us on WhatsApp. Digital copies are accepted. We handle the rest.

What if my challan was issued before the October 31, 2025 cutoff but is not showing online?

Share the challan number with us and we will verify its status across the National Traffic Police portal and Virtual Court directly.

Can I settle challans from multiple vehicles in the same session?

Yes. We handle multiple challans across vehicles in a single engagement. Share all vehicle numbers and we will check eligibility for each.

What happens after my challan is settled?

You receive a court-stamped settlement receipt. The challan record is updated in the official system within 30 days. The record becomes clear for RC transfers, DL renewals, or any other RTO process.
